The Hidden Opportunity in Chinese Coal

Tony Sagami | August 28, 2010

It has been called the “mother of all traffic jams.” I’m talking about the 60-mile-long line of cars and trucks that clogged the Beijing-to-Tibet highway for 10 days. Yup, a 10-day-long traffic jam. Cranky motorists were forced to sleep in their vehicles and buy overpriced food and water from enterprising vendors taking advantage of the unwilling but captive audience of hungry drivers.

The reason for the mega-traffic jam? The opening of rich, new coal deposits in Inner Mongolia has unleashed a non-stop convoy of trucks carrying coal to feed the hungry coal-fired utility plants in Beijing. China gets 70% of its electricity from coal-fired power plants, and that translates into a mega opportunity for investors who pick the right coal stocks.

Watch my video to listen to my top three Chinese coal picks, ALL OF WHICH are traded here on a U.S. stock exchange. Coal may be dirty, but boy is it a money-making machine in China.

Best wishes,

Tony
